In reference to my post yesterday, I made it out to the movie last night and yes, it’s a really good movie!  I need to do some homework and find out when it releases so I can talk about it.  I will say it’s a solid film.  It maintains a degree of obscurity as to what genre it is mostly because it fits into a few genres very comfortably and NOT because it’s oddly written or just disjointed.  It’s an interesting and well crafted story.  And superbly executed.  Honestly, it looks to be about 97% complete so, ideally this film will come out soon so I can talk about it.

     I haven’t fucked up through today enough yet to have much to write at this moment.  I blew an interview because I didn’t get home in time.  And of course I had to run out and get things done to try and manage an internet connection so that I could take the interview so, of course everything fell apart five minutes into the day.  It’s the Story of my life, as they say.  I am also working on a short film that highlights some of my more traumatic and painful life experiences.  And because it’s me, the characters on screen will be portrayed with pipe cleaner people, origami models, and action figures with no or at least super ambiguous copyright concerns.  The idea with that is being mentally ill as I am, distorting certain aspects of our memories is a common used coping mechanism.  And if I’m going to be re-enacting my experiences of being beaten and robbed by my “mother”, you can bet your ass I’m going to have fun with it.  I have a couple of the pipe cleaner people made and I’ve started writing it.  That’s about as far as I am on that one right now.

     I think this is seriously my ‘thing’ now.  I get on here daily whining and begging for a job on Stargate.  Once again, if anyone reading this happens to know Martin Gero, please get this to him so he can what I’m doing and I can talk him into giving me a job writing Stargate.

     One kind of big thing never really dealt with is the alien ship in the episode titled Grace.  The Prometheus encounters an unfamiliar shift and we only see a handful of shots of its exterior and nothing of the people on board.  Another people in the Milky Way capable of interstellar travel is certainly worth more screen time than this.  I have considered from time to time that it might be good for that ship to belong to the mimic aliens from the episode Foothold.  Now, though, with a new series we could probably expand on both peoples.  The mimics clearly have reason to be not-so-fond of humans and in particular SGC personnel.  One of my fantasies has always been a more ongoing conflict with them.  And then of course, new people in the galaxy with space ships is ALWAYS fun storytelling.

     So, yeah, here’s my latest example to demonstrate my affection for the Stargate franchise.  Tomorrow, I’ll write a little of how to tie back in Stargate Universe.

I’m heading out to another screening.  I can’t write anything about it anytime soon so, DON’T ASK.  I’m looking forward to it.  Since I’ve been back home I’ve scored passes to now six films and so far they’ve all been great!  I need follow up and find out embargo expirations but ideally I should be able to finally review one film in a couple months.  I’m really excited for that one.  So many NeeEeERRRddds are going to bitching and whining about it and I hate though shit-fuck, know-nothing nerds what give nerds a bad name.  And yes, I do know what’s going to happen because it’s already happening.  And has happened EXACTLY every other time a movie with certain characteristics has been released.  Just so we’re clear, sexism.  In any case, I should probably sit down and write these reviews now.  There’s no telling how much longer I’ll be alive enough to do anything later.  My point is that it’s hard to not talk about these movies when I get to see them.  That said, I fully respect review embargoes and absolutely understand why we’re not allowed to review them.  For example, this movie slated for release in June.  I watched it last December.  And while I may be able to watch a rough cut of a movie and see what it will be I get that most people just can’t be relied upon for such discretion.  Again, I can’t wait to talk about these movies and post my reviews finally!

     I haven’t written more of my Stargate script yet.  After I posted yesterday I took a nap.  After being in this apartment for a year now and ever on the verge of eviction, I finally set up one of my shelves and used the bookcase it replaced to hold a bunch of figures and collectibles.  And then a little tidying up and getting ready to go to the movie tonight.  And I have a job interview scheduled for tomorrow morning.  Providing I can get a clear streaming signal and can actually get onto zoom for the interview.  Yeah, my situation isn’t exactly getting better.  And no, this interview is NOT with Martin Gero.  So, I’m going to do this again.  If anyone reading this has contact with Martin Gero, by all means, please show this to him.  There are few things I want to do more than be a part of the Stargate universe.  To that point, I started outlining a story of a young human slave.  Born to a lower caste of farming slaves, he rises through the ranks to ultimately become lotar of his Goa’uld god.  Suspicions cast against him through years of superiors and rivals dying around him.  Eventually he gets his Goa’uld overlord alone.  Confessing to his god the murders and subterfuge he did indeed commit.  Of course, this conversation designed to buy him time before his god decides to follow through with this slave’s execution that he declared in the beginning of this exchange.  Although really, this slave was more accurately buying himself time while the poison works to kill his god’s host.  Finally taking the Goa’uld for his own.

     Sooo, yeah.  Just one more Stargate story I’d like to tell professionally.  Again, it would mean a lot to me if someone could get this in front of Martin Gero so that I can talk him into giving me a job.  Thanks in advance!

Some years back I watched some show, I’d assume on the Food Network, and this particular episode of that show centered on grilled cheese sandwiches.  It touched on the origin and history of the grilled cheese sandwich and that’s interesting enough.  Then demonstrated various techniques for grilling cheese sandwiches and doing so with various flavors of cheeses and breads.  Personally, I enjoy pepper jack on any bread, when I have the meat on hand I’ll throw in a slice or two of ham, and then some brown mustard for dipping.  One thing that stood out to me was that one of these connoisseurs stated that a traditional or classic grilled cheese sandwich had to be whiz on white bread.  I had never heard that before.  As a child we’d always used american or cheddar on whatever bread we had on hand.  Also, I’ve never been one to think of buying whiz whenever I had managed to shop like a more-or-less adult.  Now, I mention all that to bring us to this.  The other night, I had only crumbs left of the tortilla chips but a fair share of the Frito Jalapeño Cheese Dip.  I considered how this cheese dip had the same consistency as whiz so, I decided to try it.  I grilled up a few sandwiches using the dip and aside from the one I left on too long they turned out great.  They wound up a little more drippy than I expected but very yummy.  One last thing on the topic.  I made a GCS with provolone and pepperonis.  It tasted exactly like a pizza.  My ex who at the time was not my ex rather my girlfriend, was not so impressed by this discovery.  In retrospect yes, I fully acknowledge that relationship should have ended then.  Oh the pain I could have avoided.

     Ok, now I’m going to talk about some Stargate stuff for a bit.  I finally sat down and wrote a few more pages of my spec script.  Here’s a new thing with that.  As I’m writing it, the Tollan people become more involved with the Tau’ri stargate program.  Following the Ori occupation, the Earth Unified Stargate Program has assumed a somewhat more police presence throughout the Milky Way.  The diminished population of Tollan chooses to support the Earth forces to this point given their dwindled numbers and the current state of the galaxy.  Part of this treaty includes a loosening of the Tollan policy on sharing knowledge and technology.  I just thought of this part which actually helps me write another of side of my goals in a way that feels more organic.  And would Ideally be more of a recurring part for Jeannie Miller to some degree because I’ve always had a little bit of a crush on Kate Hewlett.  But far more because I’ve always enjoyed Jeannie as a character.  There are few things as much fun as watching jeannie rag on Mackay.  Also, I haven’t written about this in a long time, you should watch a fun little indie movie titled A Dog’s Breakfast.  It’s delightful little dark comedy written, directed, and starring David Hewlett.  Co-starring Kate Hewlett and Paul McGillion.  As well a number of cameos from some familiar Stargate faces.

My situation hasn’t improved.  I have no phone service at the moment.  If I got this out I managed to find some hapless wifi network I could use for a moment to upload.  It’s unlikely I’ll be able to put out more than these blog posts for a little while.  I have one play to make and I’ll see if I can swing it in a couple hours.  Maybe I’ll have some degree of internet access tonight.  If I do I’ll start doing this stuff seriously again.  I’ll start getting shit done again.  And Ideally I’ll hear back from at least one of my interviews.  In the meantime, I’ll make a concerted effort to do this daily.  How hard can it be to write five hundred words each day?  See?  Right here.  One hundred and fifty-six words down.

     I’m late with it but I finally started my quarterly watch of Sports Night.  I’m feeling a little better watching it right now I’m certainly not ‘good’.  There are times I forget just how much this show influenced so many things in my life.  I just wish we had of this technology when I was a child.  It’s still unlikely that I would’ve worked through my childhood shit soon enough to follow through on anything I wanted to do then and do now.  All the same, it would’ve been nice to have had an iPad in the late nineties instead of my being turned off by digital art.  If I had one of these cell phones twenty-five years ago, I could’ve figured out a lot of things much faster and earlier.

     To that point, once again, fuck daylight savings.  It’s well past the time for one of my semiannual rants against daylight savings.  First things first, Franklin did not create daylight savings.  Well, he may have inadvertently created it but it was a joke.  He wrote an open letter wherein he was bashing the idea.  A throw away line amidst mocking the French, and true to form in a single day sticking it to a French lady and then sticking it to the French people as a whole by mocking them for following the English in their practice of burning candles at both ends so as to mitigate the outrageous candle costs ravaging the average household.  Here are some other facts on the matter.  The English instituted daylight savings well into World War I.  Sustaining damage from the Germans’ aerial attacks under the cover of night, the British government had a plan.  They used daylight savings to allow the citizenry time enough to live their daily lives and get home earlier in the evening.  Allowing everyone time enough to get home, be with their families, and have a quiet meal.  After which the entire country would turn out every light.  The entire island was completely blacked out, hiding all possible targets from attackers.  Now, attacks were still launched, however, the casualty numbers were greatly mitigated while the German’s still used armaments and spent funds on those armaments to diminished returns compared to the cost.  The US, on the other hand, first instituted daylight savings following World War II as an attempt to skirt the costs of expanding infrastructure to and throughout more rural areas, only to spend more money to eventually expand said infrastructure thirty to forty years later as it was inevitable to do so.  Tracking the timeline of technological advancement in this country as well the course and path of that advancement, I’m very confident in saying that daylight savings was among the greater factors inhibiting technology in United States.

     But hey, now we have spoiled, cry-baby nepo-bitches going out of their way to make Skynet real while making Cylons, and they’re not chromed yet.  There, that’s my regular, semiannual anti-daylight savings rant.

     Anyway, just because this is kind of my thing right now, if anyone reading this can give my name to Martin Gero please do it.  I want to be involved with the new Stargate series and I have ideas for it.  I sat down and wrote a couple more pages of my spec script for a new Stargate series.  I was thinking about posting it up somewhere online but I don’t know where.  Well, later…maybe…

I’m still in a bad place right now.  I’ve had a few job interviews this week but I’m likely to lose my phone service soon.  I finally filed my taxes yesterday.  It could take up to a couple of weeks for me to get those funds but we’ll see.  I can still mooch a little free wifi here and there but that’ll be a further strain on my job hunt.  I’ll see if I can on this under that circumstance but I intended to start doing this everyday and obviously I fell short in this regard.  I’m beginning to think my brain shit is more shit than previously estimated…yeah, understanding these things doesn’t do fuck all to help with fixing anything.  I’ve been maintaining my plasma donation routine but that can’t be a daily event so, I need to get off my ass and figure out some other things.  It sure would be nice to win the lottery or something soon.  I’m on the verge of losing things.  Storage items, access to hobbies, this website even, the will to live…arguably I never really had that one to start.  I really am trying to keep myself going but when you weigh my circumstance of ‘right now’ against the probability of my circumstance ever being ‘good’ let alone what I want it to be, well, it’s not easy to motivate myself beyond this moment.  The worst part is that despite my not having a job right now, I haven’t been able to get my ass to sit down and write any of the half dozen or so projects I’ve started over the last couple months to say nothing of the dozen other projects that I started forever ago.  So, how’s your day going?

     The last few days I’ve been watching through Lucifer again.  It’s been awhile and it turns out there’s quite a bit I didn’t fully remember.  All in all, that really is a fantastic series.  Surprise!  Fox blew it dropping that show in season two.  Of course, it’s likely it may not have been as great as it is if Fox hadn’t dropped it.  Regardless, I found myself falling in love all over again.  No, I’m not giving you specifics to that point so don’t ask.  More than anything I forgot how hard that last season is for me to watch.  Anyone who knows me knows that my backstory is give or take half and half tragic and traumatic.  A lot of that series centers on family drama and in particular dad issues.  That last season, though, ramps up all those issues for me what with dead dads, developing actualization, and such.  So, yeah, a lot of the shit that’s been on my mind more over the last few years.

     I’m going to call it here.  Again, if anyone reading this has an inroad to Martin Gero, I have ideas for new Stargate and want few things more than to write on Stargate professionally.  Soooo, I’m available is my point there.  Have fun!
